The Specialized OYAP at Central Technical School provides students with the opportunity to develop deep career-related skills.
The one-year program combines multiple technological education credits in a specific trade with a cooperative education experience. Students learn from OCT teachers who are also journeypersons who hold a Certificate of Qualification in their trade.
Students have the opportunity to become registered apprentices and work toward becoming certified journeypersons in a skilled trade while completing their secondary school diplomas.
Students participating in these special Programs have an edge when applying to university, college, apprenticeship, or work placements. Traditionally 86% of the students enrolled in the Specialized OYAP have been signed as apprentices in their desired trade. Upon completion of the program, students are eligible to write for Level 1 exemption.
