OYAP FAST

Focused Apprenticeship Skills Training

The FAST stream of OYAP is for students who want to complete the maximum apprenticeship training before they graduate high school. Students who complete OYAP-FAST get a seal on their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) that shows their enhanced skilled trades learning when they graduate.

Students must:

  • Be at least 15 years old (16 to work on a construction site)

  • Be enrolled in Grade 11 or 12

  • Have completed at least 14 high school credits.

  • Take at least 8 co-op credits in a skilled trade placement (scroll down for example timetables)

  • Get a registered training agreement before they finish their 8th co-op credit

BENEFITS OF OYAP FAST

Students in the FAST program gain:

  • Early exposure to skilled trades

  • Hands-on experience through extended co-op placements

  • The opportunity to become a registered apprentice while still in high school

  • A distinctive OYAP-FAST seal on their OSSD, highlighting their specialized training to future employers or post-secondary institutions

  • The FAST stream provides a valuable opportunity for students to gain practical experience and a head start in the skilled trades while completing their high school education
